Round 1 of the 2011 US Open of Surfing showcased some of the worlds best surfers including Kelly Slater, Mick Fanning, Taj Burrow, Conner Coffin, Patrick and Tanner Gudauskas, Dane Reynolds, John John Florence and others.

Ten-time world champ Kelly Slater caught a heat-winning wave with just seconds to go, continuing his grip on competitors half his age.

- The Highest Heat score was by Gabriel Medina, 16.67.

- The Highest Wave score was by Richard Christie, 8.93.
